Cincinnati Wine Events: June 1 – 7

SuspensionbridgeHere are the wine-related events for the next week. I’d advise you to look ahead to the Upcoming Events section as well. There are some big events coming, benefiting one charity or another, and they all require reservations in advance.

While the week isn’t an overly busy one as far as wine events go, it’s worth noting that the Saturday events grow longer every week. Although this week is slow, we’re gearing up for the 7 Days for SIDS week when there is an event overload. I’ll give you details on this on Monday.

One event this week worth some special attention is the German Winemaker Blowout on Thursday at The Party Source. For only $20 (plus you get a $12 gift card), you can sit through an entertaining session by three premier German winemakers. The actual winemakers, folks. I always find that meeting a wine maker makes a wine taste better – you can almost understand the personality behind, and in, the wine. Seats are now limited. As of Thursday, there were only 7 seats left. I’ll do a prep post on this event on Tuesday.

Another winemaker, Yves Dominique Ferraud from Burgundy (France), will be at the Wine Merchant from 1-5 pm on Saturday. I believe it’s a pop-in event, so pop over and meet the winemaker and get a bottle signed.

I know that we’ll be spending tonight up at the 2nd Street Market Ohio Wine Festival in Dayton. Sometimes it’s good to get out of your home turf and spice it up with neighboring cities. We’ll be joining Mark from Uncorked, and several other folks I’m sure. I can’t wait to experience the Dayton wine scene and in particular, Jay’s kitchen door. Reviews of this event will have to wait until Wednesday of next week. I know you’re just holding your breath in anticipation.

As usual, it’s a big list of events, so we’ve compiled it on one
page for your reading pleasure. (For information on Dayton, you can
refer to Mark’s blog at Uncorked.) If you know of tastings or events that we missed in the Cincinnati area, please email us
or comment and we’ll add it to the list.

You may note that the tastings in KY are mostly free, and the
tastings in Ohio charge at least .25. It’s illegal for a retailer to
give alcohol away in Ohio, so they charge you, but many times it’s a
nominal fee.

Tell them we sent you, and happy tasting!

Follow the "Continue reading" jump at the bottom for Friday, 6/1 -
Thursday, 6/7 tastings. Upcoming events that require
reservations or attracted my attention are listed at the end.
