When I was growing up, it was popular to say that it took 10 years for anything remotely trendy to make its way from New York to Cincinnati. That was always a bit of an overstatement, but times have changed due to 24-hour news channels, millions of TV channels, and of course, the Internet.

Restaurant Week, long a fixture in larger cities and more recently, Dayton, is finally coming to Cincinnati. It’s the perfect time for it, with the wonderful resurgence in great restaurants the city is experiencing. What is restaurant week? Well, to start with, it’s a great idea.
From September 4-8, 2007, 25 independently owned restaurants will each be offering a 3-course prix-fixe dinner menu for only $25.07 per person. (Get it – 25 restaurants in 2007.) The price does not include drinks, taxes, or gratuities. For a little more than $25, you can go enjoy a 3 course meal at some of the best restaurants in Cincinnati, including Pho Paris, Jean-Robert at Pigall’s, Mesh, and Red. (A full list of restaurants is available after the jump.) To kickoff the event, CinWeekly is sponsoring a Happy Hour on Wednesday, Sept 5, at the Universal Grill, starting at 5 pm.
This is your chance, folks, to go try a restaurant you might not normally try, maybe in a neighborhood you might not normally be near. Go out and try something new – it’s only $25!

Okay, I get the 25 restaurants in 2007 thing, but, um, is this a good place to mention that Dayton’s Restaurant Week featured meals for $20.07? What happens if 47 restaurants sign up to participate next time? Just wondering …
Actually, I wondered that too, but I figured they would deal with that next year. I’m just happy we finally caught on and have a Restaurant Week!
