NuVo Moving and Re-Opening

I don’t know if everyone got a chance to make it to NuVo when it was in Florence. It was in the oddest location, on Dream Street in an old Pizza Hut. Yeah, I know. Strange.

NuVo is a better restaurant than its previous digs might suggest. I didn’t get a chance to eat there, but I have a menu in front of me. Where else can you get rabbit, boar, calamari, and an ox tail stew all on one menu?  Most of their ingredients are also sourced locally (okay, I don’t know about that boar …).

Their building – the old Pizza Hut – was sold and NuVo was forced to relocate. While I’m sad the relocation means the relatively new restaurant will be closed for about a month, I think their new location can only help them. Their move to Newport puts them closer to the Levee and all the people brought in by the attractions.

NuVo has moved to the old Mokka’s location. Keep up with this – Mokka’s moved to an unused portion of The Syndicate, whereas NuVo moved from the old Pizza Hut to the old Mokka’s. My head hurts.

The new location is at 527 York Street in Newport, right across the street from Bernhard’s Bakery. Expect to park on the street (I remember that from when it was Mokka’s).

I look forward to NuVo re-opening, which is set for August 26. They’ll be hosting a wine dinner soon after, which is really how this whole post ties into WINE. See you there!
