Back in August I posted about the Wine Skin to be used for travel. It’s a new "gadget" that is so simple I wish I’d thought of it. How did I not think of this?
Basically it’s bottle-shaped bubble wrap that seals, airtight, twice. You can safely and easily drop a wine bottle into your luggage. Even if it does happen to break, the liquid should be contained within the skin without leaking because of the special seal.
When we were in California in October, we purchased a couple of wine skins and put them to the test. I even put the skinned bottles in my own luggage, with my sweaters, to test them out. The bottles made it home unscathed and the skin was still sealed so tight we had to cut out the bottle.
They were available individually at many of the wineries and available online: $12/5.

[...] Wine skins. Honestly, wine skins are sort of hard to find if you’re not a winery. I’ve been trying to find a way to sell them myself, branded as Wine-Girl, but the manufacture makes it very hard. Kevin and I love wine skins, but they are a one-time deal. Once you double-seal that package, you cannot re-use it. In the past, I’ve duct taped the thing closed, so that I could use it again, but that’s really not all that effective.
