Thanks for the comment!
I hold out hope for Chalk, because I know that Jared & Bryant are personally invested in the place. I think they'll hold it together. I also know that Jean-Robert was fairly involved with it, in that he is their mentor. I've always thought his umbrella was just a way for them to be able to successfully launch a restaurant. My fingers are crossed for them, as Chalk is a great concept, with pretty consistent execution.

After talking to a few people 'in the know' I believe that this will ultimately play out for the best. JR has a new backer and plans to open a new restaurant perhaps as soon as this spring. It will be a restaurant that JR has complete control over and will bring him back to his roots.
Wade was an albatross around JR's neck. Without the panache of JR's name attached to his restaurants many of Wade's food mills will die on the vine. The food and service quality at his food mills is sub-par-every ounce of food goes through their central commissary where it is prepped, and often cooked and frozen. They are as bad as any chain restaurant in the area can be.
Jean-Robert has not had anything to do with any of the restaurants except Pigall's for years now. And how it shows. I was at Jeanro last week after vowing that I would never eat there again last year, after having had one poor meal after another at Jeanro. The food is incredibly mediocre. The french onion soup, once a great classic, was a horrible blend of tasteless broth and mushy onions. A rabbit in mustard sauce (lapin ala mutard) was over cooked and beyond dried out and tasteless. The bar service is the only redeeming part of Jeanro.
Wade is a CPA who now fancies himself as an ersatz 'restaurateur'. The guy is a complete joke. His meal ticket, errr...wife, owns FoodTV, and she won't let Martin anywhere near it, because the guy has a reverse midas touch-everything he touches turns to complete shit.
I will never, ever set foot in another one of wade's food mills again. And after his restaurants start to close I will experience a great deal of schadenfreude.
