I usually write about wine and my adventures with wine. Today I’m blogging about a beer that I tried over the weekend called Back Burner Imperial Barley Wine Style Ale by Southern Tier Brewing Company.
Back Burner has a barley taste that has a variety of sweet fruit flavors. British brewers use to make special ales using the first runnings of the mash. These beers, now called barley wine, are brewed in the past tradition. The beer is dark copper in the glass, it comes in a 22oz. bottle so its good to split with a friend or drink alone. Back Burner is a seasonal imperial that is released in February from the Southern Tier Brewing Company. It’s conceived in three small batches, using voluminous amounts of barley and hops. The 22oz bottle was 9.6% alcohol.
I have tried 3 of their beers and I have enjoyed them all. I can’t wait to try more. The brewery is located in New York and doesn’t have a Cincinnati disribut0r but they do have a distributor in Northern Kentucky. I have found their beers at the Cork N’ Bottle locations and at the DEP locations. So if you’d like to try this or any beer from Southern Tier Brewing Company you’ll have to travel over to the KY side to purchase some of the great beer.
